Past Cases Review 2

The Church of England's House of Bishops wants to ensure that our churches and church-related activities are as safe as possible for children and vulnerable adults.

To that end, the first Past Cases Review (PCR) was undertaken by the Church of England in 2007-09 following evidence that the Church had failed to act appropriately in cases of child sexual abuse by clergy and church officers. More than 40,000 clergy files dating back over 30 years were reviewed across the then 44 dioceses.

To build on this work and continue to rgow our commitment to make church and church activities safer for everyone, all Dioceses have therefore been asked to extend the review in 2019 and 2020 to include children, young people and vulnerable adults. This process is called Past Cases Review 2 (PCR2).
