![]() More than a thousand pupils, staff and volunteers from primary schools across Canterbury Diocese took part in Cathedral Schools Day. Over the three days there were workshops, prayer stations and activities to explore the history of the site which culminated each day with an act of collective worship. The theme of the event was fellow pilgrims and focusing on journeys with pupils exploring prayer stations and working together. They were also able to take part in stone masonry, traditional book making, calligraphy and pottery as well as music and singing lessons. Diocesan Director of Education Quentin Roper said: “It was an extraordinary three days, seeing the cathedral teem with school children all excited to be in such a magnificent space. “Together we learned about history and that was brought to life by pupils being able to be stone masons for the morning or to create their own sculptures and make their own books. “We had several prayer stations around the cathedral and it was great to see how each school approached them differently and how the pupils each drew something different from them. “The highlight of each day was everyone coming together in celebration and in the acts of worship they had all worked so hard to create.” [gallery link="none" columns="5" ids="28707,28708,28710,28712,28715,28709,28713,28716,28717,28711"] Schools that took part in the day were: Adisham CEP School Borden Boughton-under-Blean and Dunkirk School Bredgar CEP School Brookland CE Primary School Charing CE Primary School Chilham St Mary's CE Primary Egerton CE Primary Elham Primary School Harrietsham CE Primary Hartlip Endowed Church of England Primary School Herne Church Of England Junior School Hernhill CE Primary John Mayne CEP School Kennington CE Academy Littlebourne Ospringe CE Primary School Reculver CE Primary School Selsted Sissinghurst VS CE Primary School St Laurence Junior Academy St Mary of Charity Primary School St Nicholas CE Primary ACademy St Peters Folkestone Teynham CE Primary School Tunstall CEP Whitstable & Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School |
