New Parish Buying Offer – Parish Energy
The current Energy Basket from Parish Buying is closing on 30th September 2025, and there is a new offer called Parish Energy which you have to proactively opt into. Parish Energy is with new providers and will need a new contract. We understand that prices will be very competitive (cheaper than market prices) but to get the actual costs you will need to complete a Parish Energy Expression of Interest Form on Parish Buying. By completing an expression of interest you are not committing to purchase energy from Parish Buying.
Parish Buying have sourced and appointed two suppliers, each experts in their field; Ecotricity offers green electricity, while Corona offers three types of gas. To find out more about the offer you can explore the Q&A section on Parish Buying and/or watch this video about Parish Energy.
Emails from 2buy2 (Total Energies)
The Net Zero Team have received many enquiries about emails being received from 2buy2 which look like they are from the Church of England. This is not the case and advice from Grace Okafor, Head of Parish Buying is as follows:
“Please note that 2Buy2 no longer provide any services to the Church of England and we advise you not to engage in any correspondence with 2Buy2. We also request that you continue to inform us of any unsolicited correspondence you receive from 2Buy2 so that we can be fully informed and consider our options as appropriate.”
We encourage you to forward emails from 2buy2 to support@parishbuying.org.uk.
Can your church source its own energy?
Yes, absolutely, but it is recommended that you choose a Green Tariff in order to reduce your carbon footprint and support the Church of England achieve its ambition to be net zero carbon by 2030.
This year, the Church of England has worked with a specialist consultancy firm, Turner and Townsend, to rigorously assess the green tariffs available on the market. The most recent list (which was in the energy footprint tool) includes tariffs that are supplying genuinely renewable electricity, however, the national team are still working on an updated list which will ensure recommended suppliers also meet their standards for ethical behaviour. An updated and shorter list with low carbon tariffs, but only from ethical suppliers, will be issued, along with more resources and guidance in the next couple of months. In order to receive national updates on this directly, sign up for their monthly Environment Bulletin.
What if our contract runs out before the new list is published or the Parish Energy product is launched?
The Net Zero team are trying to get clarification on this from the national team. The working assumption is to use the 2024 list until a new list is published, but please contact the Net Zero Team if you are in this position and they will do their best to advise you.
