Welcome to Canterbury Diocese

Canterbury Diocese is the oldest diocese in England, stretching from Maidstone to Thanet, the Isle of Sheppey to the Romney Marsh. We have 350 miles of coastline with historic ports and seaside resorts, alongside rural communities, market towns and commuter-belt urban developments. Affluent areas often sit alongside pockets of major deprivation, offering an exciting and challenging mission context.

At the heart of all we do is a vision of transformation for ourselves and our communities: no one can encounter God and remain unchanged. In the Diocese of Canterbury, we want to increasingly become a Christian community transformed through encounter with Christ, growing and overflowing to transform and bless the families, homes and communities we serve: Changed Lives, Changing Lives.

Today's Prayer

Each day we pray for members of our diocese. Below you can find details of who we are praying for today, which we invite you to use in your own prayers.

Join us in prayer for Folkestone Trinity Benefice incorporating Holy Trinity, St George's and St Paul's Sandgate

Please pray for the Folkestone Trinity Benefice during this time of vacancy. We give thanks for the ministers and lay leaders who are working together to ensure worship continues, pastoral visiting is sustained, and baptisms, marriages and funerals are cared for faithfully across our churches. As a ministry team, we meet regularly for prayer, listening for God’s guidance and seeking wisdom for the future. Pray for unity, generosity of spirit, and resilience as our church communities work closely together. Please also pray for our local communities in Folkestone and Sandgate, as we deepen relationships and seek to share the good news of Christ through welcome, care and faithful presence.
