The Bishop of Dover, the Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, will lead a special service on Thursday, 8th January at. St. Laurence-in-Thanet to license and install the Reverend I. Andrew Jacobson as the new Team Leader of the St. Laurence-in-Thanet Team Ministry.
Local people are invited to the service which starts at 7.00 pm. where they will join representatives of the community, including the MP for Thanet South, Ms Laura Sandys, Chair of Thanet District Council, Cllr Mrs Kay Dark, and Ramsgate Town Mayor, Cllr Patricia Moore.
During the service the Archdeacon of Canterbury, the Venerable Sheila Watson, will present the new Priest before Bishop Trevor, who then licences him.
Reverend I. Andrew Jacobson, joins the St. Laurence-in-Thanet Team Ministry after 3 years serving as an Associate Priest at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Gibraltar and Mediterranean Mission to Seafarers Port Chaplain.
The Reverend Jacobson, who is 53, is married to Jane, a secondary school teacher by profession. He is looking forward to his new ministry at St. Laurence-in-Thanet and said: “The Church has been a visible present here for hundreds of years. It is a privilege to be part of such a great tradition. I look forward to working collaboratively to identify new ways for it to grow numerically and spiritually and continue to serve and minister to the local community”.
Churchwarden, Mrs Gwen Hobday, commented: The Parish as a whole is looking forward to the Reverend Jacobson leading us as we work together to reflect God’s glory in this part of Ramsgate.
