Statement of Diocesan Priorities 2016

Encompassed by the statement: living faith, building community, transforming lives, the Diocese of Canterbury is committed to the following three objectives:

  • To grow the church numerically and spiritually
  • To re-imagine ministry
  • To build partnerships that enrich communities

Under these objectives our priorities from 2016 are:

In terms of our Values we will promote and develop the concepts of

  • A Whole Church
  • A “Safeguarding” Church
  • A mixed economy Church
  • A culture of mutual accompaniment
  • Centring on ‘the local’

In terms of future Leadership we will

  • Model human flourishing
  • Grow indigenous leadership
  • Develop both lay and ordained leadership

We will Work Together through

  • Effective communication
  • Working across frameworks
  • MAPing at every level

We will seek out Resources through

  • Promoting Christian Stewardship
  • Engaging with external partners
  • Better data gathering and analysis
  • Letting go of things that are not priority and hold us back
