Open Air Carols in Canterbury with Archbishop Justin and the Lord Mayor of Canterbury to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Gift Fund

Venue: Outside Primark, Whitefriars Shopping Centre, Canterbury

Time:  Salvation Army band will play from 6pm, carols from 6.15pm. At 7pm, the Archbishop will give a Christmas message and bless the crowd.


The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Ann Taylor will be joined by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby and Bishop of Dover, Trevor Willmott in open air bus (parked outside Primark) to lead an hour of carol singing and Christmas celebration.

They will be supported by the choir of St Stephen’s Canterbury (including a soloist) – choir will be robed and will sing from the balcony of Primark.

Around 3,000-4,000 people will congregate to sing the carols and it is hoped that £15,000 will be raised. The money will fund around 500 grocery parcels for isolated and elderly people in and around Canterbury.
