Priest in Charge, St Laurence-in-Thanet Team Ministry
I grew up in Epsom, Surrey and I am married to Jane, a secondary School teacher. Most of my career has been in the Civil Service where I served as a Senior Research Analyst in the Ministry of Defence and Cabinet Office. I also briefly worked in the charity sector for four years as International Projects Director for a UK Christian Human Rights and Advocacy Organisation.
I trained for ordained ministry on the STETS course at Sarum College, Salisbury and served my initial curacy in an Anglican-Methodist Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) in Guildford Diocese. I then served three years at the parish of Headley with Box Hill followed by three years as Associate Priest at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Gibraltar (Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe) and Mediterranean Mission to Seafarers Port Chaplain. I have been a Territorial Army Chaplain and an Officiating Chaplain to the Military (OCM).
In many respects my current post in Thanet found me rather than the other way around and this seems to have been a reoccurring theme throughout my life. I was looking for a new challenge, and I think that it will certainly offer that. There are certainly many exciting developments emerging within the Isle of Thanet and I am looking forward to being part of what God is doing in this place.
When I find any spare time, I enjoy cycling, fishing and photography.
