Hello! I’m Sarah. I am responsible for providing a professional human resources service in relation to clergy and DBF management matters. My journey at Diocesan House began in January 2010 when I was first appointed to support the implementation of common tenure following legislative changes introduced by the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) Measure 2009. Since then my role has expanded to providing an HR service to the DBF and offering advice to parishes as employers in their own right. My job is very interesting and varied as I can be referring to ecclesiastical law, employment law, case law or updating policies or evaluating a DBF job description! I am also part of a network of National HR Advisers across the Church of England.
To provide a Human Resources service means providing advice and guidance to those with responsibility for the employment of others which can include a huge variety of issues and matters. Employment matters start from the appointment process and can include reviews, performance management, capability and grievance matters, conduct, change management, health and safety and occupational health issues. It will be interesting to see what employment changes the new Government introduce from May!
I work part time so when I’m not at work I love to spend time with my family – I have a little boy so days off are spent playing games and running about in the park!
