#MondayMeet – Rosemary Fletcher, Executive Assistant to the Board of Education

IMG_7059I am Rosemary Fletcher and I am the Executive Assistant to the Canterbury Diocesan Board of Education. My role is to support the Director of Education and the two Assistant Directors of Education for School Organisation and School Effectiveness. In addition to this I support the Members of the Board of Education, servicing board meetings as well as board meetings for the sponsor of academies in the Diocese: The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Company Ltd (DCACL) and Aquila, the Multi Academy Trust. I am Company Secretary for DCACL and for the trading company: Ethos School Improvement Company Ltd.

My position involves an office management role for the department, ensuring that the day to day operations of the Board of Education run smoothly and I am the first port of call for enquiries, referring any queries and issues to the relevant personnel. I am responsible for overseeing the administration involved in the organisation of events and training for Church of England Schools in the Diocese; making sure that it gets done!

I am also involved in the administration for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools, liaising with inspectors and The National Society for administrative purposes.

A vast amount of my role is financial and I am responsible for general finance for the department, as well as the financial administration of grants from the Department for Education (DfE) for school building projects and the reporting back to the DfE for auditing purposes. I am also involved in the financial administration for single academy trusts, as well as for those schools that are converting up until conversion and transferring to the multi academy trust.

I have a passion for education and believe that everyone deserves access to a good education, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion or gender, to improve not only their chances of a good job and living standards, but also to develop as whole and rounded individual that can contribute fully to society.
