My name is Clare Larter and I am one of the Assistant Diocesan Accountants. I work part time and have been at the Diocese for just over seven years. In that time the job has evolved and grown, taking me into new areas. My background was in software systems, my last work for that being in the City.
I work with a lovely group of people in the Finance team at Diocesan House. I am responsible for monitoring the bank accounts, ensuring that accurate figures and balances are always available. I also look after all income, with a large amount of my time being spent on parish share and parochial fees. In addition, I get involved in mission grants, vacancy fees, investments, developing automated systems for the department and various other jobs that come my way.
I have enjoyed meeting some PCC Treasurers over the years and I hope to meet more of you in the future. We are currently planning open finance sessions in the three Archdeaconries in October with our new Finance Director and it would be great to see lots of people at these.
When I am not in the office, I am kept quite busy with my family. I take part in bellringing in Kent and further afield and I also play the church organ and piano. I enjoy travelling and walking, particularly in hilly areas, and modern GPS activities such as geocaching and munzee.
