I am Barney de Berry and I have just moved to Canterbury to take up the post of Vicar at St Mary Bredin. I am married to Ruth who is a Doctor and we have two boys – Thomas who is three and Joshua who is two.
We have moved to Canterbury from Cambridge where I served as associate Vicar at Holy Trinity, right in the centre of Cambridge, for five and half years. Before that I served my curacy in Derby so we are getting further south with each move! (On our present trajectory it will mean retirement in the south of France!)
We are very pleased to be living amongst some hills after the flatlands of Cambridge and are really enjoying getting to know East Kent. The sun has not stopped shining since we have been here; I assume it is always like this?
I am a great sports fan with a special love of rugby, cricket and professional cycling.
We have been overwhelmed by the welcome we have received from the church and are very excited about what God has in store for this new season in the church’s life. I look forward to meeting some of you over the next months and years and hearing about what God is doing through your ministries.
