On Saturday, 20 October, International Organist, Sarah Soularue will be performing at the church of St Peter-in-Thanet. Ms Soularue, who is a well-known and respected recitalist throughout Europe and the United States, will be giving the concert as part of a recital tour in the UK.
Ms Soularue is currently organist at Saint-Gervais et Saint-Protais Church in Gisors (Normandy) where she was awarded the Silver Medal of the Diocese of Evreux by its Bishop in 2007 for her twenty-five year Jubilee of service as ‘organiste titulaire’.
Ms Soularue, who is American by birth, started playing the piano at the age of four, and began to study the organ aged twelve. At seventeen, Ms Soularue went to Paris to study with the two masters of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont Church, where she became assistant organist and then ‘organiste titulaire’. She is the only American woman to have won a First Prize in Organ at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris since its founding in 1795.
Mr Desmond Harvey, ex-organist and event organiser at St Peter-in-Thanet Church, said: “This really will be an outstanding musical event, and one not to miss.”
The recital, which will help raise funds for the church, starts at 7pm. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on day. Contact: Desmond Harvey, 01843 866061.-Ends-
