Top-Up Workshop: How to help your church become Autism friendly

Date(s) - Tuesday, 18th July, 2017
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

West Faversham Community Centre

What would you look for in an autism friendly church? The answer is the same as this question, what would you look for in any church: acceptance and grace.

This session will develop your knowledge about autism and will leave you with helpful ideas about changes that could be made to help your community be more accepting, respectful and autism friendly.

It’s worth acknowledging that even attending a church is a huge achievement for some autistic people  and their families. Both the autistic individual and their siblings, parents, carers and friends require specialised support and identifying ways to do this best is key to being a loving church community.

The session will cover basic advice and awareness, social communication, use of church space, resources available, and recognising the gifts that autistic people bring.

This session is open to anybody to book on. Please do share with others you think might be interested.
