The World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) is an international, ecumenical ‘monastery without walls’, according to the vision of its founder Dom John Main, OSB. Following his time learning about meditation and mysticism in the traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism, Main ‘rediscovered’ closely allied teachings within the Church Fathers’ teaching about prayer. His life’s work, and the ongoing work of WCCM, is about helping ordinary Christians learn to grow in the practice of simple silent ‘prayer of the heart’. This day will give opportunity to pray using a mantra, or ‘prayer-word’, which is a prayer in itself, and leads into prayerful attentiveness to God’s presence and God’s love. Mark Ball is a Parish Priest in Canterbury and leads the city’s WCCM meditation group.
Maximum number of participants 30.
