Learning to Listen Spiritually, Pastorally and Missionally

Date(s) - Tuesday, 20th September, 2016
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Oak Room St Mary's Smeeth

This session is the fifth ALM top-up training session of the year. Although designed for lay ministry, this session is open to anybody.

This session on Listening will be led by Joss Walker. Joss is Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Vocations Advisor and in these roles spends a lot of time listening to people’s faith journeys as well as encouraging them to listen to God! She has experience as a parish priest and hospital chaplain, and a long time ago was a teacher and street-based youth worker. She’ll be drawing on strands from all of these experiences to address the challenge of how we learn to listen in and to our world. As we reflect on what it means to have faith conversations in 2016 with the diocesan theme ‘Conversations on the Journey’ it is particularly relevant for us all to consider the importance of listening as a tool for our ministry and mission. This will be a valuable seminar which ambitiously considers all aspects of how listening can play a role in being a Christian.

Teas and Coffees served from 6.30pm.
