Prof Lincoln Andrew is Professor of New Testament Studies at the University of Gloucestershire, having occupied the Portland Chair there from 1999 to 2013. Most recently he has published Born of a Virgin? Reconceiving Jesus in the Bible, Tradition and Theology (SPCK/ Eerdmans, 2013) which examines the diversity of the traditions about Jesus’ birth in the New Testament in the light of ancient biology and ancient biography, the development of the virgin birth tradition, the contribution of Schleiermacher and issues for a constructive contemporary Christology. He is also well known for two exemplary NT commentaries, on Ephesians (Word: Thomas Nelson, 1990), and The Gospel according to St. John (Black’s; Continuum/ Hendrickson, 2005).

Prof Lincoln will be leading a day on The Gospel of John as the “Spiritual Gospel” and its relation to issues in Contemporary Spirituality.’ A brilliantly interesting topic.
