On Saturday 5th August, the Church situated in the village of Wittersham, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty , halfway between the historic market towns of Tenterden and Rye, opens its doors to the two-day Flower Festival. This year’s theme is ‘All the Saints’, in addition to acknowledging the Church’s Patron Saint, St John the Baptist, the church will be decorated with almost forty displays depicting a wide variety of saints and their patronage from Sebastian(Archers) to Fiacre (Gardeners/ Herb Growers) to St Christopher (Travellers), St Michael the Archangel(Military), St Joseph of Arimathea – Parton saint of Funeral Directors. The displays will also include St Crispin(Shoemakers) and St Ambrose (Beekeepers and Candle makers) to name but a few. A truly community effort !
The Festival continues Sunday 6th August.
We welcome everyone to come and view the displays, enjoy the produce stall, partake of all day homemade refreshments in our Pop up Festival Tea room and from 2pm each day climb the Tower and admire far reaching views across surroundings countryside and out to sea (separate charge applies).
