PRAYING WITH AUGUSTINE OF CANTERBURY
We reflect on four key turning-points as we follow in Augustine’s footsteps – his calling in accepting Pope Gregory’s mission to Kent; his ‘false start’ and journey through C6th Francia; his arrival and encounter with the Anglo-Saxon King, and Ethelbert’s baptism after nine days of prayer; and how his legacy might help us pray and reflect on our own leadership today.
The day will be led by Rob Mackintosh, who served as a parish priest for 12 years in Cambridge, Director of the National Leadership Institute for the C of E, Hon. Canon of Canterbury Cathedral and Director of Licensed Ministries in our Diocese until retirement. Rob currently serves as a spiritual director/accompanier in the diocese, teaches leadership for St. Augustine’s College of Theology and is a consultant on missional leadership for Durham Diocese. He is the author of Augustine of Canterbury: Leadership, Mission & Legacy, Canterbury Press, 2013.
