Borden, Ss Peter and Paul

To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, SS Peter & Paul Borden will be decorated throughout with a large display of handcrafted poppies and 20 perspex silhouettes and name blocks from the charity “Remembered” will sit within the pews.   These have been purchased to commemorate the 20 village men named on Borden’s war memorial who went to war but did not return.  The church will be open from 10 am Saturday 10th November to allow visitors a time of quiet reflection and the opportunity to learn more about the lives of the soldiers we are honouring. You are invited to join us at 4 pm for “At the Going Down of the Sun” – a World War 1 tribute in song, readings and poetry led by the popular Maypole Minstrels, Church musicians and village schoolchildren.  Our annual Act of Remembrance will take place at the war memorial at 10.50 am on Sunday 11th November and the church will remain open until 4pm.  It will be open throughout the following week at various times but please check our Facebook page Borden Remembers or church website for details.  Refreshments will be available in Borden Forge during the weekend and in church from Monday 12th November.
