Bishop’s Day – ‘The Significance of the Cross’ led by Dr Jonathan Linebaugh

Dr Linebaugh is Lecturer in New Testament in the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge University and Fellow of Jesus College. After reading economics and theology in America (including periods of study in Greece and Israel), Jonathan studied theology as a post-graduate at Durham University, writing a doctoral thesis on early Jewish and New Testament theology. Previous to Cambridge he taught New Testament at Knox Theological Seminary in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His main academic interest is the interpretation of the New Testament, especially the letters of Paul, and his most recent book is God, Grace, and Righteousness: Wisdom of Solomon and Paul’s Letter to the Romans in Conversation (Brill, 2013). Dr Linebaugh will be offering two sessions, taking as his theme ‘The Significance of the Cross Today.’
