There have been changes recently to the way charities have to present their end of year accounts. The good news is that there will be very little, if any, change for the majority of parishes.The perhaps not so good news is that with this recent change and other external factors the diocese will have to pay closer attention to parish end of year Annual Reports (including the Financial Statements) to ensure that they are compliant with relevant legislation.

We have therefore designed a spreadsheet that can act as a template for your Annual Report (including the Financial Statements). This spreadsheet will be presented at this training.

Please note that these Treasurer Training events will be focussed on the Annual Report (including Financial Statements) and are a complement to, rather than a substitute for, the training events for new treasurers held in July.

The new spreadsheet and these training events are for those parishes which do their accounts using the receipts and payments basis as opposed to the accruals basis. This applies to most parishes. (The accruals basis is a voluntary option for all parishes whose turnover is less than £250,000 per year and a requirement for those whose turnover exceed this figure.)
