This unique opportunity for young Christians to make their way to Canterbury Cathedral to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, has been host to thousands of young people for four decades.
The Easter Monday Youth Pilgrimage has been a precious part of our heritage as a diocese and we are hugely grateful for the vital contributions of so many people over the years. It is therefore with some sadness that we have decided that there will be no EMYP in 2016. This decision has not been taken lightly, but after a huge amount of reflection, discussion and prayer. We understand that this will be disappointing news for many people. This must not be seen as a reflection of what EMYP has achieved in the past. It is not a declaration of failure, nor a retreat – instead, recognition that as times and contexts change, so must we.
If you would like to understand the various reasons behind the decision, you can find a personal reflection from Murray on the ChYP’s Blog.
The Diocesan team are hugely grateful to all those who work to enable young people’s voices be heard in the Diocese and help us all work towards being a more integrated church.
