Venue: Trinity Methodist Church in Union Road, Deal

On Tuesday 1 April, the Bishop of Dover, the Right Reverend Trevor Willmott will visit Deal Foodbank at the Trinity Methodist Church in deal, to launch a Diocesan week of prayer for social action projects that help vulnerable people. The week of prayer which starts on Sunday 6 April and finishes on Palm Sunday, 13 April has been initiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby and the Cardinal Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Vincent Nichols, who hope Christians across the country will join in praying for the work done by Christians to serve those in need and to strengthen their communities.

Entitled ‘Listen to God: hear the poor’, the Archbishops’ hope is that this project will not only give glory to God by fostering the work of the Kingdom, but will also support, encourage and inspire local church members who give so much to their local communities.

Bishop Trevor commented: “The Diocese of Canterbury is committed to working with others to provide help and support to vulnerable people. The Deal Foodbank, which is run through the Trussell Trust with the support of local churches and dozens of volunteers, is an excellent example of how Christians can make a difference to local people when they are in need. I am delighted to be visiting this excellent project and look forward to meeting staff and volunteers and learning more about the work.”
