Bishop to open art exhibition at Barfrestone

Date: Friday 5 July, 12 noon (Photo opportunity with Bishop Trevor)

Venue: Barfrestone Court Barn, Barfrestone, CT15 7JJ.

On Friday 5 July (noon), the Bishop of Dover, the Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, will officially open the eighth annual art exhibition held at Barfrestone Court Barn in Barfrestone.

Housed in a spacious Victorian barn, the art exhibition features original paintings and sculptures by local artists. Last year over 400 visitors attended the three day show, including a curious free-range hen who wandered in to inspect the art.

Homemade teas are also on offer. These were so popular last year that a call was put out in the village for more cake bakers.

Visitors will also have a chance to look around the Norman church of St Nicholas, which boasts rare 12th century stone carvings.

The exhibition runs from 10am-6pm on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July and 12 noon – 5pm on Sunday 7 July.

Organiser, Mary Hoskins, commented: “We are delighted Bishop Trevor will open the event on Friday, and we look forward to providing a warm welcome to all visitors over the three days.”
