New Diocese in Madagascar elects Bishop

The Right Reverend Todd McGregor was elected the first bishop in the newly created diocese of Toliara in Madagascar on 9 February 2013. Bishop Todd, who has served as the Assistant Bishop of Antananarivo on the island for many years, was elected with 90% of the vote. He commented: “It was very humbling for me to receive this vote of confidence. When Joshua went into the promised land, the Lord told him to take courage. I pray that my courage would always be based on the Lord.” Bishop Trevor commented that he was ‘delighted’ by the news and called on people in Canterbury Diocese to ‘pray afresh for our brothers and sisters in Madagascar’.
