Email Prayer Chain Group initiated at a Vicarage Tea PartyThere's nothing unusual about a vicarage tea party, but not long ago twenty people from different deaneries across the Diocese met for an afternoon tea party at the Vicarage in Nonington, to discuss prayer support for the healing ministry. We began with tea, then worshipped together and finally talked about ways prayer for the healing of individuals and prayer support for The Living Well could be improved. Since The Living Well was first opened, there has been a faithful group who have come together once every few weeks to intercede and to celebrate the Eucharist, on behalf of the house and the work of the healing ministry across the Diocese. They have also produced a monthly prayer cycle and a prayer for daily use. It is this work that is now to be expanded, through the ideas and commitment of those who met for tea on a Sunday afternoon. The Living Well Prayer CompanionsIn response to the suggestions we received, we have set up four categories of Prayer Companions. The first is the prayer group that has been supporting our work for some time. It meets in Harbledown at the home of the Rev'd Michael Morris and prays within the context of the Eucharist. For more information on this group please contact Father Michael on 01227 464117. The second is a group of people who have offered to pray, actually at The Living Well, about four times a year. This will be in the context of worship and we will also pray around the house and garden, in the different places where ministry, prayer and fellowship happen. For more information on this group please contact the Rev'd Helen Connoll at The Living Well. The third category is people who have offered to pray in their own homes. Each will receive a Prayer Diary to use. If you wish to support the work in this way please contact Annelise Matharu at prayer@the-living-well.org.uk or leave a message for her at The Living Well. These first three groups of Prayer Companions have offered to pray for the work of The Living Well and the healing ministry in the Diocese. However, at our Prayer Tea we also wanted to set up a way of responding to all the prayer needs that come in to us. To do this, we have set up the fourth category - an email Prayer Chain. Prayer requests that come in will be sent out to the members of the Chain, who will then include them in their intercessions. If you wish to be part of this, please contact Annelise Matharu (details above). Finally...It was heartening to get such a good response to our need for more prayer support. It also feels good to have this prayer support given in a variety of ways, which suit those offering to pray as they have been led by the Lord. If you want to ask us to pray for you or someone you care about, please don't hesitate to use the email prayer link. And if you would like to be a Prayer Companion the appropriate person would love to hear from you: contact@the-living-well.org.uk or 01304 842847 |
