During the day the Bishop was 'interviewed' during a school assembly at the Marlowe Academy, toured the new build at St George's Church of England Secondary School, enjoyed lunch with civic, business and community leaders at Christchurch University Broadstairs, toured Ramsgate Port and went aboard a TransEuropa Ferry and participated in an open question and answer session with an audience of around 200 people at the Marlowe Academy. In the morning the Bishop was led on a tour of the multi-million pound new build at St George's Church of England Secondary school by the Principal Mrs Kim Stoner who described the exciting new facilities and resources available to students and local residents when the building opens on 12 April. After the tour, students from the sixth form and school council chatted with the Bishop and asked him questions about faith, education and the church. Over lunch, the Bishop met with volunteers from local charities plus a number of civic, business and community leaders including local Mayors. During lunch the Bishop spoke about the importance of effective partnerships and the value of volunteers. In the afternoon the Bishop was taken on a tour of Ramsgate Port where he learnt about port development plans and the work being undertaken for the off-shore wind farm. Steven Williams Operations Manager of TransEuropa Ferries, the freight and passenger ferry service which operates between Ramsgate and Ostende, invited the Bishop on board the vessel 'Primrose'. Bishop Trevor met the captain Danilo Skergat and crew and after visiting the bridge, enjoyed hospitality on board. The evening 'Ask the Bishop' session was attended by nearly 200 local people who were keen to question the Bishop about the role of the church in Thanet society. During the evening the Bishop was 'interviewed' and also answered a range of questions posed by the audience before leading an evening prayer. Commenting on the day Bishop Trevor said: "It was wonderful to meet so many people and to see for myself and hear for myself about the region. I was impressed by the way communities including local churches, businesses, charities and local councils are clearly working together for the benefit of society."
