What is ChYP’s Ministry?

Our vision is that we find a way to become a diocese where Children & Young People are a seamless part of church life

Children & Young People are not just the church of the future, they are the church today.
The church of the future isn’t real yet, the church of the future doesn’t exist.
The church of the future is easy to talk about, safe to talk about because then it doesn’t need to affect us now.
We need to face the challenge that Children & Young People are disciples in training, not disciples in waiting.

We believe that discipleship is possible at any age; that all ages can worship all together; that the value of our worship is not defined or constrained by how much we know about God but rather by simply knowing God. We believe that it is possible for children & young people’s ministry to be a seamless part of the life of our churches as long as we are willing to let go of the obstacles that prevent them from engaging with us.

We hold onto the three step model for anyone who takes that first step towards our communities of faith:

BELONG – first we must give everyone space to belong
BELIEVE – then, and only then, can we begin to encourage their belief
BEHAVE – and finally we can help them to act in response to the encounter at the heart of our mutual belief.
