Neville Emslie
I began in this post in September 2008, having previously worked as Theological Educator and Vice Principal of the Lincoln Ministry Training Course since 2006. I was also MA Programme Leader in the School of Theology and Ministry Studies of Lincoln University. Born and bred in Auckland, New Zealand (All Blacks, haka, beaches, mountains, sheep and space) I trained for the Baptist ministry through the 1980s and pastored 2 churches from 1989 to 2001. Throughout most of that period I also taught Koiné Greek and New Testament in the Auckland Consortium for Theological Education and Otago University. I was appointed Principal of the School of Ministry Knox College, the Presbyterian Church’s theological college, in 2001 overseeing the Ordination Studies Programme and the development of Lay and Recognised Ministries throughout the Church. There and in the UK I have taught modules on theological reflection, mission, spirituality, leadership, hermeneutics and preaching, and I have trained to an advanced level in mediation and conflict resolution. I was named a Fellow of St Margaret’s College at the University of Otago in 2005. Recently I was married to Hilary who is a URC minister, both of us love poetry, coffee and green spaces - so it’s nice to be in Kent.
