Workshops

Delegates may choose one morning and two afternoon workshops, all based around the theme of Communities.


Workshop 1 11.10am - 12.00pm

1. Building an on-line community

A workshop exploring how websites and social media can build communities - with Emily Shepherd, Diocesan Director of Communications and Richard Lucas.


2. Mind the Gap

Carl Adams, Rural Officer with ‘Action with Communities in Rural Kent’ will run a practical workshop looking at building relationships within church and community. Carl is responsible for the develoment of community shops and parish plans


3. Street Pastors

Paul Davis of the 'Street Pastor' scheme will share their experiences of setting up and running a street pastor scheme that seeks to help young people 'out on the town'.

A. From House to Home - Building New Communities

Is it possible to build God into the foundations of a new housing estate? Captain Stephen Plumb (Church Army, Sittingbourne) and Jennifer Shaw (of Ashford Borough Council) will lead a workshop with practical suggestions..


B. Crossing the Threshold

A workshop exploring creative uses for church buildings and the funding streams available - with Liz Marsh, Diocesan Stewardship Adviser and Ian Dodd, DAC Secretary and Caroline Pinchbeck, Diocesan Rural Adviser.


C. Back to School: Churches Connecting with Schools

Maximising relationships between school, church and community - case studies and ideas with Nigel Genders, Diocesan Director of Education.
